Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In the upcoming electoral battle for the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency, tensions rise as Abhishek Banerjee, faces challenges from multiple fronts. The Indian Secular Front's (ISF) Pirzada Mohammad Nawsad Siddique will contest against him. Now his elder brother, Pirzada of Furfura Sharif Abbas Siddiqui, has also challenged Abhishek.
Abbas Siddiqui, a prominent leader among the minority community in West Bengal, has released a viral video addressing a large gathering, expressing confidence in winning the constituency. He promises to address the concerns of the people and visit the area monthly if elected.
The ISF's Naushad Siddiqui had initially expressed his willingness to contest from Diamond Harbor. Abbas Siddiqui's public support for his brother and announcement of a separate candidate has intensified the political dynamics.
Trinamool Congress responds to the Siddiqui brothers' challenge, with spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that Naushad Siddiqui has already announced to contest from Diamond Harbour. After that Abbas is now talking about his own separate candidacy. There is an internal rift between the Siddiqui brothers. While challenging Abbas he says, "If he has the capacity, Abbas himself should contest the elections, Trinamool will defeat him by four lakh votes."
